The Klinkers Fishing Spot And Shallows

Fish The Infamous Skinny Water Of The Mosquito Lagoon

Saturday October 21, 2017

Exiting the Haulover Canal on the Mosquito Lagoon and heading north you'll follow a group of islands for several miles on the western shoreline called "The Klinkers". We suppose this islands were named because they "klinked" along the side of the channel in a long chain allowing anglers with shallow draft boats shelter from the harsh winds and great fishing too.

Notable about The Klinkers is the two boat launches sheltered behind them on the Mosquito Lagoon. Beacon 42 and the WSEG Ramp further north. Each boat launch provides great access to the lagoon and require park fees to use. I've never counted all the Klinkers before, but there seems to be well over 50 islands in their several mile stretch. It's often confusing on which island to fish behind, but with fishing so fantastic on the lagoon, the choice is usually rewarded in one way or another with fishing opportunities.

Fish the Mosquito Lagoon spot known as the Klinkers in the infamous shallow waters tucked behind a bountiful array of mangroves for red fish and trout.
