One Of Mosquito Lagoon's Prime Fishing Locations
Tuesday April 24, 2018
Not to be mistaken to other "Pelican Island's" on Florida's east coast, Mosquito Lagoon host a nice sized rookery for pelicans on it's south end near the fabled "Whale Tail" and "Middle Bar". Pelican Island lies dead center of the entrance to the most southern end of the lagoon west of Eddy Creek as you enter Max Hoeck Creek. The very shallow south side holds plenty of fish while the North side holds just as many if not more on the Middle Bar joining up with the large Whale Tail sand bar.
There's no real restrictions to Pelican Island as a rookery, it's already based on a National Wildlife Refuge so wildlife and habitat are protected. It's a great landmark for boaters and anglers alike on this mangrove lined island and it's neighboring area the Gallinipper Bay warns trespassers that large mosquitoes await those whom try and make landfall.
